In City Planner, you design the road and transit network for a growing, Hanoi-inspired city. Homes, offices, restaurants and malls keep appearing, and every resident needs a way to get there and back. Draw roads, spend your limited bridge permits to cross the river, then add buses, trains and air taxis before traffic grinds to a halt. Miss too many trips and the city's happiness drops; let it hit zero and the run is over. I'm the lead developer on this Unity game, published by D.RAGOON JSC.
Inspired by Hanoi's 100-year renovation plan
Every building has an entrance, and your job is to link them up. Drag to draw roads in straight lines, diagonals or curves, and reach new neighborhoods as the city spreads out. The river splits the map, so bridge permits are precious: where you cross decides how the whole city flows. Each morning you pick a reward, like more road, another bridge or new vehicles, so every day is a small decision about what your network needs next.
Roads alone won't keep up. Draw bus routes along your streets, lay rail for two-car trains, and place helipads so air taxis can fly commuters straight to work. Residents pick how to travel based on what is actually available, so one well-placed station or park-and-ride link can empty a jammed road. The city also runs on a day-night cycle with seasons and weather: morning commutes, lunch and mall trips, and evenings when the windows and headlights come on.
Survival is the core challenge: limited materials, a reward to choose each day, and new transport unlocking as the city grows. Sandbox removes every limit so you can build freely and design the city you want. The Great Mayor adds an economy on top: earn tax income, pay the city's running costs, pick an investor package each season and stay out of debt. Play on a Hanoi-inspired map, eight other world cities from Ho Chi Minh City to San Francisco, or a randomly generated map.
City Planner is built in Unity with C#. Every resident is simulated on their own: they pick a trip, an A* search finds routes across roads, rails and walking paths, and they choose how to travel based on the live capacity of each option. A junction scheduler and deadlock recovery keep cars moving through busy intersections. The game runs in the browser and on Windows, macOS and Android, in English and Vietnamese.
